Screenless, Sleeping MacBook Pro?

I had been having a problem with my MacBook Pro. When I opened it, it would come out of sleep without a screen. After time and time again of losing my work to this problem, I noticed a pattern it seemed to be following. When I would plug it in right before I opened the case, it showed no screen. But if I did all that in reverse order it would work!

So now after almost two months of not having the issue, I hereby offer this suggestion for screenless, sleeping MacBook Pros, Open it then plug it in. Just a thought.
